Streetcleaner:
Godflesh's second release, this was their first full length album. This record is still hailed as the band's best work. Streetcleaner was recorded in 3 sessions. Paul Neville helped out on the last one.

Notes:

Tracks 1-5 were recorded at Soundcheck in Birmingham, May-August 1989, without Paul Neville
Tracks 6-10 were recorded at Square Dance in Derby, May 1989, with Paul Neville.
Tracks 11-14 are bonus tracks on the cd, and were recorded as the "Tiny Tears" ep that was never released. (see the FAQ)
Even though "Devastator/Mighty Trust Krusher" is listed as track 6, the cd release divides the song into two which brings the total number of tracks up to 14. Track times are (3:20) and (5:26).

The cassette and cd were re-released as Mosh 15 and Mosh 15CD in June, 1994 with inferior cover and back art. They seem to be second generation photos.

Slavestate:
Two years after the breakthrough album Streetcleaner, the band released a 4 song ep titled Slavestate. This ended up being released in 3 different formats, the 4 song ep, a 3 song remix ep and a 9 song mini lp. Originally it was supposed to be released as 2 separate ep's on cd, but Earache didn't go for that. Listed below is the 9 track mini lp. The other releases are in the EP section. Best known for the Techno influenced sound, a large number of Godflesh fans were disappointed. The band's fan base was dramatically changed due to this record.

Notes:

The final release of Slavestate, this is the version that can be found now. Contains material from the deleted Slavestate and Slavestate Remixes 12"s and from the Slateman single. It is possible that they released this on vinyl.
The promotional cassette for Slavestate was a blue cassette.
A video for Slavestate was made.
The packaging for this Slavestate was identical to the original 12", except this version which also had the pictures from the Slateman single.
Slavestate was re-released as Mosh 30 and Mosh 30CD March 14th 1995.

Pure:
This is the band's second full length album. It marks the first Godflesh release to have Robert Hampson of the band Loop on guitar. The bonus track Love, Hate (Slugbaiting) features 3 minutes of material from Fall of Because, Godflesh's predecessor (w/ Paul Neville on guitars)

Notes:

Recorded at Avalanche Studios September/October 1991.
Uk vinyl contained a 12" X 12" double sided insert, which features the credits/production information, as well as the lyrics to the song, "Don't Bring Me Flowers".
Initial pressings came pacakged with a 16" X 11" fold out poster.
The UK lp has "You Just Fuck Me" etched into side 1, and "Where Is Pure III" on side 2.
Track 9 and 10 are bonus tracks on the cd. 9 was recorded and mixed December 1989.
R. Hampson appears on tracks 1, 3, 4, 8 and 10.
P. Neville appears on track 9. The intro to that song is Fall of Because live in 1986.

A video for "Mothra" was made.
This cd was released in April of 1992. It was re-released the 13th of February, 1996. The re-release has the same artwork, just better quality (as opposed to the poorer quality on "Streetcleaner") and also comes with a 2 1/4" by 3 3/" bronze colored sticker of the album cover.

Selfless:
After a very long delay, Godflesh released only their third full length album. Earache had been having problems merging with Columbia, and finally, they resolved everything. Godflesh was now just Justin and Ben.

Notes:

The promotional cassette has a different cover and inlay. The cover is a green toned version of the original cover, (which is also found in a slightly different version on the "Xnoybis" promo cd) while the inlay is black with white lines simulating a heartbeat. There are two versions of the promotional cd. One came with a jewel case, and another was just a white paper slipcase with a gold text on black sticker affixed.
Track 11 is a bonus track on the cd.
A video for "Crush My Soul" was made.
The US cd was released with a clear cd case showing a picture of the 2 band members, and a black and white picture of the cover.
This album was released September 26th 1994 in Europe and on October 18th, in America. It was re-released as part of a double cd packaging along with "Merciless", see below.

Songs of Love and Hate:
A very different approach and sound, yet again a third band member was included. Brian (brain) Mantia played live drums for the first time on a Godflesh record.He left before the tour, to be replaced by Ted Parsons of the band Prong. The band begins to incorporate more dance beats again and the drumming adds a lot to the sound.

Notes:

The last of the Earache re-releases, released September 10th, 1996. It has a hologram cover, which is actually a picture of both album covers, and a "grated" jewel case which acts like a hologram, in a sense, to show both covers, when you shift it. Like some of the other re-releases, the artwork isn't as clear as the originals. Crush My Soul (Ultramix) and Xnoybis (Psychofuckdub) were taken from the Crush My Soul single. Affixed to the cover is a sticker stating that there is unreleased material. I suppose that means that the CMS single wasn't released in the US. I believe that this contains a cd-rom track which lists the Earache catalog.
